Gen2 devices are clearly marked: the outer box will have ‘Gen2’ printed on it, and the device itself will have a round silver sticker labelled ‘Gen2’ on the bottom. If ‘Gen2’ is not seen on the box or the sticker on the bottom of the device, then it is NOT Gen2.
